Welcome! We’re celebrating a newly revised club website

For several years the Club leadership has been aware of the need to update the club’s website. Finally that work has born some fruit. We now have a more contemporary website with information regarding club services as well as space for blogging. It is our intent to publish blog updates on a variety of topics of possible interest to members. Please check back here regularly.

Recent Board discussions have revolved around several different options to maintain club viability. During its early years the club provided needed education on the use of desktop computers and software such as word processors and spreadsheets. However, as technology has evolved, so too must the club’s focus. (Even as the Sun city community has undertaken an expansion with the purchase of the Copper Health Building and consequent impact on the use of the current Welcome Center building, so too must our club reevaluate the space we require).

Last year, Peg Bushong presented a very well-received series on the iPhone. As a matter of fact, I believe every one of her classes was over-subscribed. That implies the club needs to retain access to its current laboratory so that we have adequate classroom space.

Further, recent donations have led us in the direction of establishing a Microsoft Flight Simulator. While we’re still trying to learn how to “fly” we’re aware making the lab available to members to explore some new options like the flight simulator probably contributes to interest levels on some peoples’ parts.

So, as we move forward, bear in mind that change is upon us. Check back here to see what else might be going on as well to keep up with what is happening in a variety of technological areas.

  1. I would like to attend a session on “Cord Cutting.” Maybe an annual cord cutting festival. Listening to experience from other residents would be helpful. In a home where one of two people are interested the current state of things could be a good road map of what is happening with our neighbors. It might bring both people to the same conclusion that it’s an improvement.
